Welcome to www.davidcshields.com!
I have started this site to showcase some of my work and get feedback on some of my opinions and ideas. I think it best to start with a little bit of background information about myself!
I was born in Glasgow, Scotland to two hardworking parents who have supported my brother and I in all of our endeavors. They are the current owners and operators of Tepp Plastics. My brother, Colin, is a professional ice-hockey player with the Belfast Giants and operates his own gym: Total Performance Fitness.
I moved to the United State in August of 2009 to play Golf at Davis & Elkins College in West Virgina before eventually finding my way to the University of Mount Olive, where I would meet my future wife, Mahala.
It took me a while to realize that a career in academia was the right thing for me, but I committed myself to my studies when I finally made the decision.
I graduated from UMO in May of 2014 and moved on to Nova Southeastern University where I obtained my M.S in General Psychology. I am now attending Regent University in pursuit of my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.
I am currently serving as the Coordinator of the Academic Resource Center at the University of Mount Olive. This position allows me to interact with a variety of students who are in need of academic support. I am particularly proud of the relationships that I have fostered with many of the students who have come to me for help.
My second position at UMO allows me to teach courses within the Department of Psychology as an adjunct professor. I currently teach Introduction to Psychology and will be redesigning an online format to utilize the latest in educational technology this summer.
I would love to hear from any one so feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
